Hi, I'm Rebecca

I'm a mom of two. I started gardening to give my kids something real to dig into and to put good, homegrown food on our table.

I don't have a big yard. I grow on my deck, in containers, because that's the space I've got. Right now that means red cabbage, Caraflex, burgundy broccoli, and a couple of stubborn Brussels sprouts.

What I write about

Honestly, a bit of everything that happens out there. Plants that don't make it, timing I get wrong, and what I'd do differently. When something goes sideways I go look up why, and I pass along what I find in plain language so you can skip a few of my mistakes. And the good stuff too, like the kids picking something they grew.

My home base is Bucks County, Pennsylvania, so our frost dates are my starting point. I'll show you how to shift the timing for wherever you are.

Why "Seed to Joy"?

Every garden starts small. A seed, a clove of garlic, a pot on the deck. With a little care (and a few do-overs) it turns into something that makes you smile. You don't need acres or a perfect plan, just a place to start.

See you in the garden,
Rebecca
